Create Discord Roles

In the list on the left side of the screen you will find different options, among which is the roles. On this screen you will see the list of existing roles in the channel. To create a new one you will have to click on it blue button which indicates «Create Role».

Then you can assign a name to that role, in addition to giving it an associated color and determining the characteristics that it will have, such as being able to mention this role by other users. In addition, you can also check what the experience of that role will be like on the server.

Also, in the tab Permissions, you can assign them according to the type of role you want those users to have. Depending on your own role in the channel, you will have the possibility of being able to manage this tab with greater freedom or have some limited categories such as advanced permissions.

Role assignment

For assign a role we have a couple of options. To begin, in the tab rolesIn the server settings, we will click on the role that we are interested in assigning. Then we will have to click on the tab Manage Members, where we can see a button that indicates Add members.

Another way to do it is to go to the tab Members, in the user management section, and click on the «+«, Which is located to the right of the person to whom we want to assign the role that we have created.

Channel permissions management

The channel permissions You will find them by clicking on the gear symbol next to each channel. These permissions can be managed in the permissions tab on the roles screen. The voice channel permissions are the following:

  • Connect to voice channels

In addition to these permissions, in the channel overview you can activate paused mode. This allows you to set a time that members will have to wait to send their messages.

Add category permissions

When the permissions of a channel are changed, it may not be synchronized with the permissions at the corresponding level. However, synced and unsynchronized channels can be found in the same category unless you press the button. Sync now in the channel settings.

Automatic role assignment in Discord

On the other hand, it must be taken into account that there is the possibility of automatically assign roles in Discord, but it can only be done through the use of third-party bots or plugins. Two of the most common ways to do this are the moderation bot called Dynobot and the plugin mee6.

With dyno bot you will be able to see the permissions of this in the integrations tab server settings. If you enter the dashboard of this bot adding it from its page you will find different moderation functions. Your choice Auto Role It is very useful, since it allows to add or remove roles to members when they enter the server, or once a certain amount of time has passed since their union. Also, members can choose their own roles with the function / Rank.

With mee6, which is a plugin for Discord users, has a free version that allows you to add it to the server to assign roles automatically. For this you must enable plugin on your page and then on Server Settings -> Roles, place a Mee6 above all other roles you want them to be automatic.
