More and more people are deciding to make use of Instagram Reels, the Instagram feature that has been created to deal with TikTok, since it is based on the creation of short videos. Throughout the following lines we are going to give you tips, tricks and talk about some functions to create Instagram reels that will help you to get the most out of this functionality that has so much potential.

How to activate Reels

To start using Instagram Reels, you must open instagram camera, which is where this function is located in its full. It is one of the sections that appear at the bottom in the selection, so you just have to tap on Reels in order to activate the function.

The first time you open it, you will find that an information window appears on the screen in which you will have to click on Start.

Change camera with double tap

A little trick to switch between the front and rear camera when making your reels is to double tap on the screen, which will make you change between them without having to go to the button that you will find in the lower right part of the screen, a little trick that will allow you to do the process faster.

Record without pressing the button

In Instagram stories you have two different possibilities of working, the normal in which you have to keep the button pressed, and the hands-free mode, in which you play once to start recording and once to stop recording. In the case of Reels you have a mix of both systems, since the record button serves to record by pressing and tapping.

if you do a simple tap on the record button, it will record without having to hold down. Hold down if you want to stop recording the moment you lift your finger from the screen of your smartphone.

Record in different takes

One of the big differences between Reels and Instagram stories is that they don't have to be recorded in one shot, but can be recorded in takes. A Reel is a video that is made up of different clips or fragments with a maximum duration of 15 seconds,  a period of time that you can fill as you want with as many clips as you want.

To do this you will only have to record a clip of less than 15 seconds, and then another clip and so on one after the other until you reach the maximum of those 15 seconds (or less if a shorter video is preferred).

Deleting the last clip

One of the great advantages of recording in clips and not all at once is that you can enjoy more control over the recorded content. If you make a good first clip but the second doesn't convince you, you can always erase it and record it again.

In this case, to delete the last recorded clip, you just have to click on the left arrow button, and then select the trash button and finally confirm that you want to delete the clip.

Trimming the length of clips

From the same menu mentioned in the previous section, you have the possibility of adjust the duration of clips trimming them, something interesting if you have erased more. To do this, you will click again on the arrow pointing to the left, and then click on the scissor button.

Once this is done, a slider will appear that will allow you to choose when you want the clip in question to start and end.

Changing the bottom of the Reels

The filter for change video background You can find it both in Instagram stories and in Reels, being very useful for all those who are interested in making videos with greater creativity.

The filter in question works like any other, so you will have to click on the smiley face, which will cause the effects to open. In this case you will have to choose the filter Green Screen and then choose one of the photos saved on your mobile to make it the background on your Reel. As simple as that.

Put music / audio to your Reel

Music is very important on Instagram Reels. In El Reel you can make use of the original audio of the video or replace it with a fragment of a song. Unlike what happens with other tools, the song you choose will apply to the entire video and not the clip in particular.

To add it you just have to touch the button of the musical note, and then select the song to add, being able to use the search engine to select the desired one. Then choose the fragment of the song that you want to add to your video and finally click on Done.

You also have the possibility of use the audio from another video on your Reel. To do this you will have to go to the video that has the audio you are interested in, use the audio and click on Original audio, to then press Use audio.

Save the Reel without publishing it

If you have finished recording an Instagram Reels video and you like the result but want it for yourself or to share on another social network and not on Instagram, you have the possibility to download it to your mobile without publishing it.

To do this, you only have to record your Reel and, once finished, press the download button that appears at the top. If you do not want to publish the reel, you just have to go back until you return to Instagram without publishing.

Publish the Reel as a story

The Reels posted on Instagram will be visible on the profile as conventional posts, but can also be shared as stories. To do this, in the publication window you must touch on Stories, to later click on Share on Your Story. If you want to send it as a private message, press Submit in the chat.
